Driving & Parking

It is recommended that all motorists avoid roads in the Southbank area including West Gate Fwy (westbound) and Olympic Park Precinct between 6:00am and 12:30am. Participants in the event are encouraged wherever possible to catch public transport to the event. If you do have to drive to the event, aim to arrive at your chosen car park by 6:30am to avoid most of the road closures and to give yourself plenty of time to get from your car parking location to the start.

Most roads on the course will be closed from 6:30am until about 12.30pm. Note: CityLink westbound (Domain Tunnel) will be closed from 9pm Saturday night.

Parking

Tip: Please do not park anywhere on the course.

Check with individual car park operators for Sunday operating hours.

There are several places to park relatively close to the start including the CBD and the Southbank area. The CBD can be accessed from the East (streets north of Flinders St), the South (via Kings Way) and from the North (streets east of Spencer St). Southbank can be accessed from the West (via City Road eastbound. City Rd will be closed completely at Princes Bridge at approximately 6.30am).

Please study the Road Closures Map to see what roads will be closed and how best to access your chosen parking destination. Plan your route into town carefully.

From the North

Vehicles will be able to access the CBD unimpeded from the north. Note: Do not use Spencer Street. Spencer Street southbound (between Collins Street and Clarendon Street) will be shut from 7:00am. Spencer Street northbound will be local access only (no through traffic).

If you are coming in on the Calder /Tullamarine, exit at Flemington Road to access the CBD, or exit at Power Street on the West Gate Freeway to access Southbank.

From the South

Vehicles will be able to access the CBD unimpeded from the south via King's Way or Punt Road. Do not attempt to use Queensbridge Street or Batman Avenue.

From the East

Vehicles will be able to access the CBD unimpeded from the east using Victoria Pde, Albert St and Wellington Pde.

Where possible, avoid Flinders Street and instead use Spring Street to access the east/west streets such as Collins, Bourke & Lonsdale. If you are coming in on the Monash Freeway, you will be diverted at the Punt Road (Boulten Parade) exit. Motorists will enter Punt Road and travel in a northbound direction into Hoddle Street. The CBD can then be accessed by Wellington Pde, Albert St and Victoria Pde as detailed above.

Swan Street will be closed between Punt Road and the Yarra River.

From the West

The West Gate Freeway will be open all day in the eastbound direction. Vehicles will be able to access the Southbank area by taking the Power Street exit and then turning right onto City Road.
