Metro Trains
Tip: Catch the Train wherever possible.
With major road closures in place for the event, runners should avoid driving into the city. Many stations along the above train lines have parking facilities for you to park your car and complete your journey to the start line by train.
For detailed information about parking facilities at stations visit www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au or call 131 638. Detailed train timetable information including the departure times of trains along the above lines, will be available from Metlink closer to the event.
Arriving at Flinders St Station
Flinders Street Station is the closest station to the start/finish in King's Domain and is about a 5-10 minute walk along St Kilda Road. Sunday train timetables from your local station are available on the Metlink website at www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au
If you are approaching the event from Flinders St Station for the long course start, please be aware that the short course will severely restrict access across St Kilda Rd. Runners in the long course are advised to use the Alexandra Avenue underpass from the western side of St Kilda Rd to get access to the long course start line if they arrive after 8.40am.
Remember, Sunday Saver Metcards allow unlimited train, tram and bus travel across Zones 1 and 2 on Sundays for only $3.10. These aren't available from ticket machines so if your Station isn't staffed on a Sunday, be sure to buy one in advance from a Metcard retailer, Premium Station or online.
Note: During the event only (between 9:00am and 11:30am) there will be altered access and exit arrangements in place for pedestrians at both Flinders Street Station and Southern Cross Station and may affect your family and friends who are coming to watch you run! These changes are outlined in greater detail in the Southern Cross Station (during the event) and Flinders Street Station (during the event) sections. These arrangements do not affect any scheduled train services.
Flinders St management have requested that competitors DO NOT change into running gear in the station toilets.
